I got more of a bush rather than a vine, but I wanted big leaves. This pumpkin turned out to be more of a joy than I expected.

I put in the pumpkin more for the leaves and blooms than fruit. I'll be happy for it to mature, but the season probably wont let it.

If you could find some horse manure you could make a hotbed...that might extend your season just enough that you could have cucs too.

Great! do you have 60 days frost free up there? give it lots of feedings... My dad used to plant our cucs and pumpkins in "hills" he made a lovely bed with a layer of fertilizer (usually smelts) and topsoil mounded up and culivated to a fare-thee-well. then tucked in the seeds and watered and pretty soon the hills would be little ovens... our pumpkins always got off to a good start...lol.
