This one's got too huge. I shouldn't have planted it there. But I didn't know.....

I agree, the flowers are unique, almost humorous when you look at them closely :o) According to Wikipedia, "the globe artichoke (Cynara cardunculus var. scolymus) is a variety of a species of thistle cultivated as a food" -- You sussed it right! People eat the buds before they come into bloom, but I'd rather see the flowers. "See" food?! lol

Very nice, unusual flower kind of like a cross between a pineapple and a thistle, and once the flowers have disappeared I presume you can then eat it?, good all rounder.
