Sweetbay Magnolia growing next to a movie theater. This Magnolia is native to the US and grows in swampy areas. A couple weeks ago it was full of flowers but doesn't have the impressive Spring display a lot of other Magnolias have. The flowers open gradually from June-July and sometimes August. I love this Magnolia because the flowers are fragrant, it doesn't get Magnolia scale and Spring frosts don't destroy the flowers.
