Hardy, and forms a small bush, suitable for borders and tubs :)

I like the idea of growing some hardy ones.

Thanks for your comments :)
Haven't you got any hardy ones Melchisedec ? They are worth growing. There are so many different ones to choose from ...

I have a couple. I think one is Genii, and it's in the border, and the other is Lady Boothby, in a pot. It rather took me by surprise as I don't think I realised what it was when I bought it. It is in its second year, and is expanding in all directions! I'm not quite sure what to do with it next. It's beside the greenhouse in a very sheltered position. Would you recommend taking it in over winter - which is what I did last year, assuming it was tender - and when would you prune it?

Lady Boothby is hardy. You can plant her in the ground and leave her there all year. She will grow to about 6 feet tall, so needs something to support her. Some people say she climbs, but she doesn't. She needs to be tied on to a support.
When you plant any hardy Fuchsia, try to plant it deeper than it is in the pot, so that the base of the stems are under the ground. This will give it some protection from the worst frosts, and so ensuring that it will grow back for the next year.
Lady Boothby is very hardy though, and may not even die back at all :o)
Good luck ! :)

Thank you for that advice, Hywel. My garden is generally very sheltered, so I'm sure she'll be ok. I'd be a bit pushed to have space under cover, so that's good news.

I'm sure she'll do well then :)
