Pretty thing

I think this may be a Silver Studded Blue. Which according to the internet is one of Britain's rarest butterflies.

How lovely to have seen this Treetop ... it does look like a female Silver Studded Blue with those orange spots ... quite a rarity!

Well caught, Treetop, although I am not certain about the identity! I wonder if it is a Common Blue? I've had one of two of those in my garden and this looks the same - but I'm no expert :)

Gee, I have been on to an authentic butterfly site and yes it's been confirmed as a Common Blue.

Isn't it annoying when you find something rare and it turns out not to be! I had a little bird in my garden and I really wanted it to be some sort of warbler but it was a little chiffchaff! I still enjoyed watching its antics and your photo is still a stunning close up :)
