Taxus baccata 'Fastigiata Aureomarginata'?

Very pretty! I am on the look out for a slow growing/dwarf blue conifer myself. I might go for Abies Koreana. The one I left at my old house has produced its first cones this year.....doh!

Almost word-perfect, Andrew. :-)
'Taxus baccata 'Aurea Group' on the label, but I think you're probably right. :-)

K. the other new tree is a Cupressus arizonica 'Blue Ice' and it's soooooo pretty! I don't think it's particularly slow growing, though, and I'll need to keep it trimmed. I'm sure you'd love it!

I'll look that one up, thanks. :)

I know you've seen the photo now. Lovely, isn't it. :-)) Removing the old trees and replanting has made a huge difference to the look of the back garden. :-D)

I bet! Always nice to have a revamp...hard work, but worthwhile.

Yes, especially as Abi weeded out lots of self-sown plants from round the old Yew, which looked really messy. Now it's all cleared it looks 100% better. :-))

:) so satisfying!

Our daughter who's staying here, didn't notice anything different in the back garden, but she did like this little tree. :-) (You might have guessed that she isn't interested in gardening.)

...yes, I guessed! :) But it only takes one super plant sometimes....to get somebody started!

I thought she'd started being interested last time we went to visit them - she'd planted a Passion Flower and it did quite well! But no - that was a one-off. :-(

How lovely to see people planting conifers again, we have always loved them, and in our old larger garden grew so many , the colours, the shapes, evergreen what more could you want...
Spritz we have three daughters and all of them enjoy their gardens, but do not understand to keep plants looking good they need care and attention lol

I've even tried planting up containers and a hanging basket in her teeny back garden, but you're spot on - she didn't look after them, with the inevitable result. :-((

The only thing that's thriving is a Forsythia I planted for her birthday one year - that's doing well, and guess who prunes it.

I know, we keep telling our eldest daughter
( she has heavy clay soil!) they need to dig in mulch etc but it goes over their heads, spend a fortune on plants, which promptly die, we will be in charge of the garden because they will be on holiday for over a fortnight, at least it will get some love and attention then.......shame really because she loves our garden and wants to have a lovely one, still perhaps one of these days...
Our middle daughter who lives in Malvern has just started a new garden, we are waiting to see how it has progressed when we go up, hopefully in September....lots of lovely plants put in!! but have they watered them? they are all on meters, which does not help, at the moment we are not, and I hope it stays that way!!
Talking of water, it is raining, brilliant, perfect, although hope it is over by 7.30 the red arrows are flying over the Island and the fireworks display for the end of Cowes week.

Hmmm - are you hogging all the rain again DD? None here in Bracknell.

<10 minutes later> Thank you - we have rain!!

Dd, she doesn't do ANYTHING with her little garden - I'd love to be able to give it a make-over, it really needs it. She admitted when they visited us this week that it is a thorough mess, and they haven't even cut the tiny lawn. :-(

What a waste when it could be a little haven, and somewhere lovely to sit.
