Another garden weed. I know the rhiazomes for this are expensive, but it is all over the place here being spread by birds and the seeds.

It is strongly scented. I have heard it called Grandma's Smell (translated). The leaves are used in cooking traditional Portuguese bread.

A weed that I could live with!

I know that there are several plants people who live in colder areas would like to have. This is one, hydrangeas are used to keep cows from destroying walls, agapanthus is for the center of round-abouts, it is illegal to plant eucalyptus because it is so invasive, and the regular Bird of Paradise is everywhere. But you have things I would like to have but it doesn't get cold enough.
