Nothing is better than a pleasant surprise like this.

Tommymoo, what a brilliant surprise. I am not one for surprises normally, but I would love it if one of these popped up in our garden!

Probably a castor oil plant? homebird

You're right Siris, thanks.

I used to sell the seeds on ebay but I can't any more because of the "hazardous nature" (according to ebay's explanation). What a shame; it was a nice little pin-money earner lol lol lol

Nice colour :-)
My castor oil are doing brill from your seeds Tommymoo, planted some in a pot this year and they look good, a bud on the dahlia too, the flippin slugs and snails have been horrendous this year especially on the dahlias, I could beat the world record, if there is one? for snail lobbing lol.

Simbad, do you always lob them in the same direction ? Or, do you share them with all your neighbours ..... lol.

Lol Alan,we have a very overgrown plot of land next door, wish the owners would get on with building, so the snails have plenty of weeds to go at,I wouldn't throw them to our lovely neighbours the other side ;-)

If it's an overgrown plot with long wet grass and weeds, that will explain why you're getting so many slugs/snails in your garden. All you're doing, out of kindness, is sending them back home at a faster speed (and at a much greater height no doubt) ..... lol. Such a shame for you, as they can demolish plants in no time.

You're both so funny Simbad and Alanb

lol lol lol

Simbad, you wouldn't throw snails/slugs to your neighbours? How "morally correct" you are, good girl! On the contrary, I'm "bad to the bone", therefore, I make it a rule to throw all the snails to the neighbours' fields whenever/wherever possible because 2 of our neighbours are not at all "lovely" (shhhhh). I always try to do it "at a fast speed" and "at a great height" as Alanb suggested even though I believe those snails are born in our land. Unfortunately enough, sometimes the snails don't reach to the aimed fields and fall on our land lol lol (not funny). Evil talk aside, I'm so happy to hear my castor oil seeds do well for you. A bud on the dahlia? How fantastic! I hope you'll have more and more buds :-)

Tommymoo ... Shame on you .... have you tried a catapult? ..... lol

Back to less controversial subjects, perhaps the Glad is self sown. My neighbough who is much more elderly than me doesn't dead head and there are always self seeders the next spring. ( a hot south-facing raised border in the south of the UK.)

I feel much better now Alan, yes just sending them home lol!!, a catapult what a good idea never thought of that, maybe a pea shooter for the smaller ones ;-)
LOL Tommymoo!! that's so naughty of you I won't breath a word :-x

Klahanie, thank you so much for your kind comment. I've just read it, I'm sorry somehow I didn't notice it on the 7th.

Alanb and Simbad, a catapult and a pea shooter? lol lol lol Hilarious! You're both so, so, funny and full of innovative (?!) ideas :o)

Siris, that's interesting. Thank you for the info!
