Yes, it's nice to have flowering plants late in the season.
This plant blooms most of the year in California. People like it because of its extreme drought tolerance. Although, after two or three years of drought it starts looking a little stressed.

It is an easy plant as long as you can keep slugs and snails away from it!

They wait for the young flower stems to emerge on this and then whole armies of them descend upon it!

Yes, I know. Typically, winter is the worst time for snails and slugs.

They hibernate here so are rampantly munching anything in their path at the moment!

Well, at least they hibernate there in winter. Here they somewhat hibernate in summer or just not as active.
