wonderful! I want to plant these along the bush edges. Over three years ago, in my town garden, I had lovely delphiniums which bloomed twice, once in July and then again in October. They didn't have time to recoup before the snow fell and I lost the lot of them. With all the warmth you're having out there I don't think you'll have that problem with your digitalis. ;-)

We have lots of foxgloves every year Lori as they selfseed but my delphiniums and hollyhocks are consumed by deer. Lots of young ones this year.

I'm glad that you don't seem greatly disturbed by that fact! I watched our deer starving in late winter last year, I couldn't deny them anything they could find and bought some deer fodder for them.

I do not think they would starve here Lori. We do not have snow and plenty of green around even in winter time and I dump bunch of apples on their path at this time of year. The young ones are just so cute and innocent that you just want to go and hug them. I am just experimenting with these plantings .

The snow was so deep last winter and the spring so late and cold that they really suffered. As you say, the little ones are so cute and innocent, that it just breaks your heart to see them skinny and weak. I had a huge pile of apples last year..but the buds were frozen this spring and in their hunger they ate most of the fruiting spurs right off the tree..that means there are no apples for them this winter. Nature has to recover and all suffer. I've bailed some of the long grass and have the alfalfa in the meadow. hoping for a milder winter.

Hopefully you will have milder winter Lori.
