Blue lace cap Hydrangea. I do not remember it blooming so well in ten years. It was always consumed by deer. Not this year. They ignore it. Go figure.

Our soil is very acidic Katarina...with so many Douglas firs and Western red cedars, we have so many needles around. No fertilising on anything. Just water from time to time as our summers are very dry.

It's beautiful and I'm pea green with envy! I bought a very wilted needy looking one at a grocery store this spring...it was healthy looking and green all summer..no blooms..and it's been frozen off with frost now. fingers crossed for next spring. Some of the new cultivars from Proven Winners are deer resistant. lol...their term. makes me laugh every time I see that! What do they do? duck and cover? ;-)

Looks like our bambies (and we have lots of them around this year) will eat everything. I do not see their moms showing them what they should and should not eat. Some plants are poisonous to them and they eat it anyway. Over the years we found few dead little ones close to our house. I do not believe in these deer resistant plant lists. There are lots of plants on these lists that our deer truly love. Although, I have few plants that they will not touch. I also bought some commercial anti-deer sprays which did not work. It just spiced their food :-)
Good luck with your hydrangea next spring Lori. Sorry to hear you already have frost . We had our first good rain of the summer yesterday.
Nice smile Katarina.

Very nice one. Did you use special fertiliser for that blue colour or does it occur naturally blue in your garden?
