Thanks Janey and Homebird. They don't mind sandy soil, either!

I lave them too. Not fond of the very tall native ones...they get too big. But this one is a gorgeous lemon which looks lovely with the White flowers behind. I think I must add some white flowers to the golden border next year, it is such a lovely contrast...so fresh. :)

that is Achillea millefolium, in the background, Karen ... It is almost a wildflower here.
I have tried the lovely pinks and oranges but nothing smells as resiny, and sweet as the white. It tolerates the sandy soil and dryness very well...but it is lush and lovely in a more hospitable place with humousy soil. Even the foliage is lacy and pretty. I also have two other varieties of mullein. I have V. "sixteen candles" which is much shorter with multiple flower stems...usually only 2 or 3 ft. tall...the native mullein is capable of 12 to 15 ft in height, it's flower colour is nice (two shades of yellow) where the 16candles is butter yellow with pink and orange stamens! the other type of V. that I have is midway between the two...it's about 3-6 ft. tall and has butter yellow flowers with pink and white stamens.

They all sound lovely! I will have a look at the achillea, thanks!
