Given how big these things can get, I thought I’d keep it in a pot while I decided a) where to put it and b) if I wanted to keep it at all. It seems to be doing ok. There were some flowers mixed up with this cutting; I didn’t want to move them while they were in flower, and now this one is, so it looks as if they’ll have to stay there for a while longer – provided I can get them out before they flower next year!

I love Pampas, just wish I had room for it.

Rather large Fran. We had one in the middle of our apple circle in our previous garden. After a while we had to set light to the dry leaves in the autumn to try and check growth and sprawl. However it looks very nice for the moment.

I got this via Freecycle, Waddy - they had a huge clump broken into smaller bits to give away; I took three but this is the only one to survive. The hole in their lawn where it had been dug up would take a large garden shed to cover; so I'm keeping it potted, bigger pots as it needs, but controlled all the time!

Wow, Dorjac, another reason not to let it out of its pot! Did you manage to restrict the growth in the end, or did you have to take it all out? this plant, like bamboo, should come with a warning! Though someone down the road has a clump, it's rather small, but of course I don't know how old it is, or if it's contained underground to keep it in check.
