Oak tree autumn colour

I used to think that too, until I got a dust devil. Then suddenly all the leaves from every tree were in my yard - oh good times!!

BG - we tend to get prevailing westerlies (off the Atlantic) in the UK. There used to be a huge oak two doors away in that direction, but the owners had it taken down earlier this month. I'm hoping that means a lot less leaves in my garden this year.

Andrew, I know it is wise to keep leaves off the lawn, but what about the borders? we have so many this year, never been a problem before...do not suggest composting them, no room!!

DD - I tend to leave them on the borders until the spring tidy. It doesn't seem to have harmed the plants.

What a stunning colour. I collect all the fallen leaves from both the grass and the border ie off the border plants and put them in plastic bags to make leaf mould - wonderful stuff!

Oak leaves are slower to break down and make wonderful insulation in cold winters. I collect them from the forest and tuck my roses and rhodo in with them and some burlap.

Siris we have far too many, I would be at it forever, and we do not have room to store bags of leaves unfortunately, thanks Andrew, pleased you said that...lol
