I had one of these in my other garden and it grew huge and the flowers were fantastic. I gave it a good haircut and the next year it grew huge again with loads of flowers.

Yes, I pruned mine back to about one-third but it has just taken off again! It has already whizzed over the top of the trellis! I am not sure whether to trim it back or just allow it to do its own thing, now, Linda. I don't want to lose the flowers - they are so pretty and they go on and on until late autumn now.

I think if you cut it back now you will lose the flowering shoots, unless you trim the worst of the trailing bits off Spritz. It's the same with the shrubs especially bridal wreath. I cut back at end of June and the new growth usually contains the flowers next year.

I'm going to have to trim the really long stems off - they are waving about in the wind and disappearing over the back of the trellis into the field behind us!

I'm sure that they will be fine Spritz they seem to be very strong growers.
