Happy new year Klahanie; it was good to see your pictures of sparrows, it is strange for to think back to my childhood, when sparrows were our most common bird here in the UK, but now we see very few, if any in our gardens. This we think, is due to the hedgerows, where they used to feed and nest have been taken out by farmers to enlarge their fields. Natural ponds, where we were able to see frogs, newts and dragon-flies, have been filled in.

Yesterday, was cold sunny day, I drove with my son Daniel, down to the North Sea coast (30 minutes away) and had our annual Christmas walk on the beach; it is good to spend one-to one time with our adult children, talking about the past, and their future plans.

We have been invited for lunch today at Lowestoft by the sea, where my partner's brother is laying-on a huge feast; he is a very good cook and excellent host, however, as this will be our third such feast in the past week, I would be happy to stay at home and have egg-on toast and a cup of tea!

I hope that 2015 is a good year for you all.

Good to hear from you David,
It is nice to have annual Christmas walk tradition. Glad you could share some time with Daniel. I also can understand your comment that sometimes it feels good to stay home and not to join all the feast and festivities.
They can be overwhelming at this time of the year.
I wish you all the best in 2015.
