My New Years first purchase. I can't tell you this will last years and years. But,looking perfect outdoors at a Walmart, with no protection in January at the very least gives me a plant that's acclimated to sun and cool nights and that should get off to a fast start as days get longer.
I hope!

Petra in front finally has shown the effects of late Decembers 33f for two hours. One tip of the three main branches..just bent over. Like it melted. Almost a month after the cold too. I haven't seen the other two follow suit...so hopefully it will be good for spring.
That 33f? I didnt cover the Croton. The weather people had said the previous night (35f) was the bottoming out and I could expect 39-40f. Well, they were wrong!.
Nest year,I'm going to cover on any 35f and below nights.
No freeze this year but I was pushing it...

Sorry to hear about your Croton 'Petra!' Most likely it'll come back in summer. It's good to hear that the Mammy croton is still doing well. My Croton 'Mammy' which I've had for 6 years is still growing just like my other crotons.

What else?
See who else is growing Codiaeum variegatum 'mammy'.
See who else has plants in genus Codiaeum.
