Meanie:
So sorry to hear about your Iris getting eaten by slugs.
I had a beautiful Amaryllis with orange flowers got eaten by snails a few days ago...even in the sweltering heat. This is the first time this Amaryllis has ever bloomed. They never get enough water and so they've never bloomed in the past.

In the heat that you've been having the snails should have been cooked by it!

I know because even at 11:30 p.m it was still in the low 80's (27ÂșC). They came out to chomp, anyway.
This has been one Hell of a hot winter (warmer than last year's warmest winter on record). The snails are still very active, though...not sure why?! Maybe they just have acclimated?

What else?
See who else is growing Iris histrioides.
See who else has plants in genus Iris.
