A double Hellebore

A double Hellebore (Helleborus x hybridus)

First of my double Hellebores to flower. White with slight spots in the centre. (Actually I squeezed the pod-like flower bud a couple of days ago to make it open!) From seed.

Wow that's lovely :-) I bought some doubles last year from hayloft plants but think it'll be a couple of years before they flower.

Have just put some pollen on this. Next doors has a nice semi-double, pollen scrounge for the next flower!

I've never tried crossing hellebores, worth a try now I've a few different ones :-)

They are very easy from seed. They are naturally a bit promiscuous, if you don't pollinate them they are more than likely to do so themselves. More likely to get double offspring by crossing 2 doubles, spots are a dominant trait, more than that I don't know. Good luck S.
