A lovely Spring day

A lovely Spring day

Yesterday was warm and sunny - such a treat, and the first sunny day that hasn't been really cold. I spent most of it in the garden. Even though the garden is still decidedly rough round the edges, I am posting this photo just for the joy of having started gardening in earnest.

And today it is cold and wet!

Same here Melchi..I could have written every word of that. Miserable today. I've been cooking and cleaning, which is fine, but nothing beats being outside in spring sunshine.

Too true. I've been cleaning today as well. Quite fun, actually, because I've finally got a new vac. The old one was literally cracking up and was in desperate need of replacement. I'm now rewarding myself for my hard work by sitting cosying up with GoY!

The weather has been a real teaser this week. As soon as the sun shines I get all dressed up to brave the wind. The minute I step outside the rain starts. Today has been milder but the rain is that damp wetting type which gets through to chill you no matter how well you think you have dressed to face it. The dawn chorus is well in to its second week so lets hope the birds are forecasting that better weather will be here soon.

I know just what you mean, Scotsgran, although it has been milder here too. The birds are getting very frisky! I was watching a pair of dunnocks (I think) racing through the trees, flapping their wings wildly at each other. And a pair of great tits were investigating nooks and crannies around the garden. In a couple of weeks, we are off to the Dales for a few days with the family so are hoping for some proper spring weather then.

We considered taking a break and going to the AGS/SRGC show in Kendal today but the forecast of snow over the hills decided us against that. I hope the good weather is going to happen as we move towards April. The daffodils should be in full bloom when you visit the Dales. I'll look forward to see your photos.

(I can't believe it's been a week since I checked in on GoY.)

I don't blame you for cancelling your visit to Kendal if there was a risk of snow. I was having nightmares at the thought of late snow in Yorkshire, but - although the forecast is very mixed - it looks as if it will be fairly mild.

I shall definitely be taking some photos next week. It's lovely here at the moment - early Saturday. Hope it stays that way!

We have had two nice days in a row. I got some gardening done yesterday and spent a couple of hours out there today. In the afternoon we went along to the Stirling show. It is actually held in Kincardine so not so far to travel. OH says I have a way to go before I reach the show bench standard lol. There was a lovely sunset with red skies so fingers crossed I might get some more work done. Its great to have the longer daylight again.

It certainly has, Hb. We have only had a handful of sunny days since I took this photo in March, but things seem to be improving, I'm glad to say. And the plants don't seem to mind!
