Beautiful! Male or Female? I'm not too clever at being able to tell the difference!

It is and we also get on the odd occasion the black and white woodpeckers similar to yours. One is the lesser spotted woodpecker and the other the great spotted woodpecker. Both have black and white plumage with a beige chest and a dash of red on their heads but the greater spotted has a flash of red under its tail.

Great photo Paul. Our Great Spotted Woodpecker has had one chick this year. The chick has been in the garden but not on the nut feeder yet.
