I tap only a few trees...

check out my blog, Bathgate. I use the old rule of thumb that my grandad used... trees must be at least 10" in diameter to support one tap... older trees with more girth can support two or sometimes three taps.

How often can a tree be tapped for syrup? How old must a maple tree be before it can be tapped without injury?
