As the old very cheap arch got almost demolished in the last lot of gales, hubby decided it was time we spent a bit more and got a really good one ! So pleased with this one !

It's very pretty. I completely agree with all Scotsgran says about cheap arches, having succumbed to the temptation of a low price at least once (twice if I'm honest!)

You are so right Scotsgran, but at the time , just bought what we could afford ! We placed the arch just a bit further into the garden so that, hopefully it would be more protected from the wind. The honeysuckle, I managed to stretch over to go on to it, but the two clems, one the evergreen Wisley Cream and the other Niobe had to move nearer the frame ! They both had to be cut right back ! Fingers crossed that they both survive ! Although it does seem a shame to cover this arch with lots of climbers !
Thanks Mel ! We just do what we can at the time, don't we!
The other arches in the garden are cheap ones , but are not open to the strong winds.
Thanks Amy. The old one did have a yellow climbing rose on it, but was hidden by the honeysuckle , so have moved it to an obelisk and hope it survives the move as I had to cut it right back to get it off the old arch.

We certainly do, Rose, and sometimes they are fine in the right position. I made the mistake of using one with a very vigorous climbing rose! When the arch fell to pieces, I had to cut it out of the rose!

I hope your rose survived Mel !

It sure did, Rose - it's a long hedge now!

I bought cheap arches etc and they are a waste of money. They did last a few years but just as the plant reaches its full potential down comes the cheapo frame. it is almost impossible to rescue a plant intact in that situation. This looks very sturdy. Pretty wind chimes too.
