I was just looking at the iris yesterday several have buds now , they seem to appear by magic overnight, Tommymoo sent me an almost black one year before last its huge now fingers crossed buds appear on that one.

If you look down the leaves sometime you can see a green lump which is a bud developing before the stalk extends. I have a blue black with buds again, one of the later Talls. Actually I have several 'blacks', Night Owl is not going to oblige this year I think.
I am finding dividing them more regularly rather than waiting till the clump no longer flowers ensures flowers most years. But some varieties clump up better than others.

Aha I've just been out for a wander and my 'Golden Muffin' has a bud :-)
Night Owl looks nice just had a google, you seem to have quite a collection.

Tomorrow, weather permitting, another 3 varieties might open.
