:-) I have few of these Lori and deer pruned plum and cherry trees as well.
Blooms are over here .

Amy: this was spared because it's in the upper tier of branches which the deer must stand on their hind legs to get at... :-)
thankfully the deer prefer a more comfortable stance and prune the lower and outer limbs of the last season's growth. Klahanie: I have a relative who lives on the mainland (in the interior) she has been talking about their nice warm spring...and the island is always balmy, right? saw the pic of your plums. Mmmmm. maybe it would be worth a try. I have one tree which I have always believed to be an apple...but it never blooms. I plan to do some research to find out what exactly it is...but time is at a premium these days... will get there eventually. wouldn't it be nice if it was a plum?

The weather is fine here Lori, high teens mostly. You can tell the tree from shape of the leaf, no? I hope that we will get some crop this summer. I did not see any bees in time when they bloomed. There are lots of them around now...pollinating rhodos and weeds Sheesh.

We're not seeing any bees here! it's a worry after what happened with the crop spraying last summer. Our nights are very cold still. last night it was 3 degrees! Need to make my morning rounds to make sure everything is ok..but it's interesting that things are strengthened by the long winter. They are much more susceptible to autumn frost than spring frost.
