Megaskepasma erythrochlamys - Brazilian Red Cloak

Megaskepasma erythrochlamys - Brazilian Red Cloak (Megaskepasma erythrochlamys - Brazilian Red Cloak)

My former neighbor's Brazilian Red Cloak which I gave a cutting many years ago is flowering. My former neighbor's plants flower better than mine these days. Photo taken May 12, 2015.

wow- send me a cutting. Tomorrow!.
Maybe now isn't the best time-lol. I like the topiary tree idea...nice change from the shrubby look of the others on the net.
It has really,REALLY been cool here. I've been in the 67-70F range for a while.

I hear Andy, you should be getting heavy rains Friday. 1 -2" in San Diego. That's like half a years worth of rain in a day or so for you guys.

I have several. My original shrub I trained as a standard and I have several others, two are trained as trees and one as a full larger shrub.

Next time I go up to the Bay Area I will bring you one. I originally got my plant from a good friend who lives in Oakland. It grows very fast and flowers very well up there.

Yes, the weather has been quite cool here for the last week or so. Last week Friday we had 1/2 inch of rain (which was great and very unusual). Tonight and tomorrow we're expecting maybe an inch or more and 2 inches plus for the mountains (most likely record rains). This is really go news for the trees and plants which are dying by the millions around southern California and throughout the state.

I'll be here. Since 1970. The weather has really been cool. We are now 18 straight days of fog. Either most of the day,or all day. May 1st was 81f..all straight downhill since. Ugh.
My watering is way, way, down for May.

I know it's crazy! Summer in winter and winter in summer...what's next?!

It's suppose to rain here today and maybe tomorrow. If it does rain today this will the be three weeks in a row that it's rained on Thursday and Friday. this is pretty much unheard here in San Diego. The temps have only been between 66 - 75. Very cool!

21 straight days now. This reminds me of what killed my potted Saguaro. It yellowed, then just collapsed in a very cool foggy and dark 2008 -2009.
I'm trying Pachycereus now. Slower then slow going into its third summer. I think its grown. Not sure. ugh.

Wow! 21 straight days of cool weather? Saguaro cactus needs very hot weather most of the year. I've only seen a few large ones in San Diego. I took some photos of a few beautiful, very tall Saguaro cacti by the Salton Sea a few years back.

We had showers here last night and tonight and most likely tomorrow early morning...then the weather is suppose to start warming up in the mid to upper 70's by Sunday, Monday. I see some forecasted highs next week in the 80's.
