Clianthus in flower
Comments on this photo
Is this inside? I have one of these outdoors, grew it from seed, red flowered parent 2009. Not flowered yet although stems to top of 6ft fence. I cover with fleece in winter.

It's been outside for the last 3 years. Since it got about a foot high and boring in fact. I had no idea what it was, it just appeared in a pot in my greenhouse. I thought it was one of those sensativity plants but leaves didn't move so it went outside where it's been ever since. I have to say we haven't had a bad winter for 2 years although last years was very wet here. I have a few babies growing on for backup too.

So there's hope for some flowers then. I have seen one in flower a couple of years ago a couple of streets away, but not since, am in Hampshire.

I first found the seedling 4 years ago and it flowered last year at 3 years old. Flowered right through the summer too. I live under the flightpath at Heathrow even though address is Berks, so our worse problem is wind (planes land on the crosswind). I'm growing the white version too. Seedlings about 3inches high at the moment.
Photo is outside greenhouse.
