Wigandia comeback. (Wigandia)

I cut it to a stump last year. Just got too leggy for that spot. Usually has Campanula like large bell blue flowers. Might skip this year it looks like. With Aloe barbarensis and Iochroma 'burgundy'. And of course the ubiquitous Jade plant.

I love Wigandia and the beautiful flowers. I haven't seen this plant here in San Diego...not sure why.

I remember the larger trees (they were shaped like trees, anyway) at Strybing Arboretum. Do you know if they're still there?

UC Berkeley has them in huge sizes covering a very large area in their Mexican rainforest plot. If you have a giant yard, that massive growth in bloom is not forgettable. Its what Andy, got me to jump on mine on sell at UCB.
Very hard to start cuttings. Every one I tried turned black and died. For a plant that grows like a weed?

I think I've seen the ones at UC Berkeley. I haven't been to that garden in years, though.

On a different note: you must check this out. Delonix regia blooming, already in Southern California. It's pretty much unheard of for this tree to flower this early in the year, closer to the coast. They typically flower in the low deserts this time of year.

Three seedling Delonix made it for me. One in ground (that wasnt taken) and two in a pot.
I dont have high hopes. Just hope.

Andy- you see they have a grafted dwarf Jacaranda for sale now? Great for cold climate people. Or Bonsai.

I wish you the best of luck with the Delonix regia!

I've seen photos of the dwarf Jacaranda tree. I still can't believe it doesn't grow taller than 6'.
