Does somebody know this little shrub?

I picked it up from a rock on the northern Sicily shores.
Planted it in my garden 6 years ago. I thought, it died in those cold winters here. This year, probably due to favor climate, the shrub appeares under my lavenders and is beautiful.

OK, Brian, I uploaded closer photo of the acer, with details of its leaves. Just for comment, leaves are green in the spring, turn into beautiful pin-orange at the end of summer and then into dark purple in the autumn.

Katarina, this plant is Hypericum olympicum. Native to Greece (I believe.)

Thank you very much, Klahanie! Wow. It is from Sicily! But Greeks settled in ancient times in the South of Sicily, I read. Maybe somebody had seeds on the shoes :-)
