The red hot pokers are similar except the edge is slightly serrated and harder to pull out.
Many of my Eucomis are putting up flower stalks. It is a plant that performs right from the immature flower heads until the stalk finally gives up.

Yes I did try to pull it out Wylie but no chance definitely a dig the whole thing up later, its so annoying me though in the sea of daylily scapes loll.

My big problem are dandylions that want to grow right next to a daylily, and grasses that have massive root systems growing among the seedlings. This light rain we have been getting really encourages them to grow.

Wow stunning !
I went out today as I'd spotted a really tall flower spike in the daylily bed flippin red hot pokers popped up slap bang in the middle of a daylily I was tempted to dig the lot up to get it out till I noticed loads of flower scapes lower down on the daylily so a job for after flowering I think, similar leaf so I hadn't noticed it.
Oooo I have eucomis seedlings too Wylie and the bulbs have all sprouted :-)
