Me too Dawn I've bought a couple in the past but they don't come back, but beautiful flowers Simbad, might have to treat myself to one again, oh apart from psitacina which has survived winter in a pot I protected :)

That's what I thought really as I saw some at Wyvale £14, this other GC are reasonable and they had lots of them so dropped lucky I think, you don't mind so much if you lose them then do you :))

It is, went to GW Live at NEC on Friday, got some nice purchases but took a while to decide what I wanted but did quite well in the end and weather stayed dry, rained just as we got back to car! :))

Oooo what did you buy Daylily, haven't been to GW Live for several years we did go to Harrogate in May though, just a shame it wasn't the week before,we came back from holiday then and we flew from Birmingham!

I bought Geum Borisii, you.have that one don't you, Penstemon Garnet, Phygelius Candy drops Red, verbena bonariensis, campanula punctata white and pink, 3 alpines and a blue grass Festuca, bought quite a lot of plants lately as trying to re-vamp borders and create a 'hot' south facing border, so much inspiration on here!!! :)) Where did you go nice for hols :))

I must try again too if you don't think its the clay Kathy. Are they frost tender ?

ooh lovely, we have been married 27 years in October.
Dawn I have read that you should put a deep mulch over alstroes over winter to protect them to get them through the first couple of years, I bought one a couple of years ago and left it in the ground, didn't mulch it but it didn't come back but my moms got some in a pot which have survived.

Fancy that !! we've been married 28 years in September, Rob(OH) retired a couple of months ago time flies.
Oh now you mention it think mine from Hayloft said to mulch, oooops I forgot ;-)

lol, it certainly does, I was only 21 and that's our eldest daughters age now, its scary lol, ooh nice to retire :)) I think its trial and error isn't it with the alstroes, when we moved here we had some of the common orangey tall ones but they're gone now, that was just before I really got into gardening :))
