We call them lightening bugs for their conspicuous use of bioluminescence during twilight to attract mates or prey.

They are amazing. Their light is so intense. How can a little bug make a big bright light?

Yes, that would be so amazing! I don't know how they can be so bright; however, when I was a kid I also wanted a firefly. :)

I remember as a kid I would catch a bunch of them, then set them free in my sister's bedroom. Her bedroom flashed like a discotheque all night. :O

That's funny.
I didn't know fireflies were ingenuous to the North-east. I always thought of them being native to the southern states.

Yes there are various species in different parts of the country and they flash different colors. I read that even their eggs glow in the dark, lol!

I just noticed I put ingenuous instead of indigenous in the previous comment. LOL!
