A gorgeous red hemerocallis with a yellow throat. Unfortunately the label has disappeared since planting last year. Name choice:- S. Dad's unknown (not like the earlier flower on a different clump) or Long stockings.(doesn't look like a spider to me, nor is it over 1m!) Help please Simbad.

Ok, leaves 25" tall as they display ( ie not pulled upright). Flowers 4 1/2 - 5 " across petal to opposing petal. Love the colour, whatever. I am a silly billy!!

Sounds like 'Siloam Show Girl' Siris when mine flowers we'll compare I have one clump in the Daylily bed and one in the border which always look slightly different colouring and flower size, can't think of any other reds except Long Stocking that I sent out and its not that as its a spider and much larger flowers, amazes me how different they can look depending on soil, I have one called Luxury Lace, one part of the garden its very pale pink almost white another area it's salmon pink bordering on orange!!

Some of the clumps you sent were so large, I divided them before planting. There is a clump going to flower in the front with your label, Siloam Show girl on it. Will see when it flowers if it is the same. In the meanwhile your Little Missy has just flowered today, am posting now.

Ooooo off to look :-)

In 2016 I lifted this clump whole, divided it and in the tangled roots was a commercial label which said Buzz Bomb.

Not one of mine then Siris I've never had Buzz Bomb :-)

The only reason this 2015 picture has reappeared is because I have been going thro' my files and updating. It is the commercial label that is a mystery, yours were your own self written. Yes, you said before that you never had Buzz Bomb and I have never bought Buzz Bomb, or been given any Hemerocallis, other than yours. It definitely was really entangled in the roots of one of your large rooted clumps. I can't see how that label got there. I looked up Buzz Bomb and the flower looks the same. What a mystery.

This is so puzzling me, I remember buying 'Siloam Showgirl years and years ago from a small nursery (long closed,) the owner had hundreds of freshly potted up daylilies he said they'd been freshly dug from his field so all I can think is that if he grew so many maybe over the years he's planted 'Siloam Showgirl in the spot where Buzz Bomb once grew , I know they will grow from the smallest bit of root that's why I rarely rearrange the ones in the Daylily bed just split and put back in same spot , this would also explain why when I split it one plant grew with bigger flowers , I just put it down to the clump being in a sunnier spot which faded the colour, but I've googled too and though they are both red there is an inch difference in flower size , that's the only explanation I can think of, how did I miss that label!! obviously my root washing wasn't as good, I do remember it being a huge clump when I split it .

I think you have hit the nail on the head, Simbad. When I received the huge piece it had been cut/sawn thro' the roots off your main clump. I cut it in half again. This portion this year I took out, soaked the root ball, (no soil so congested) and with 2 forks eased all the plants apart, discarding the roots with no attached plant. Label was in the midst of the tangle. Mystery solved, I think. Ps I think BB has slightly more pointy petals.

No definitely neither of those Siris, looking at my blog of others I sent the only other it could be is 'Siloam Show Girl' that's a lower growing one with small 4 inch flowers, mine is a much darker red than this and more rounder flowers, although soil conditions can affect the flower colour, I have one that looks a completely different plant in different areas of the garden!, it flowers later here too but they often flower out of sync first year till they settle.
