In a Howea palm. The Orioles?
Aha!...My wife spotted the female and I can confirm it. She looks like the biggest Goldfinch you ever saw. That she can use the Hummer feeder with her shorter beak is amazing.

Funny how they picked my yard. I wonder why when there are bigger Queen palms close by or many Fan palms?

There's no rhyme or reason...well, maybe for them. lol!
I saw some orioles yesterday on the power lines. This is even with the huge thunderstorms and copious amounts of rain we had yesterday. We had almost 1 1/2 inches of rain yesterday (where I live) with the huge thunderstorms, thanks to tropical storm Delores. Today we may get more storms and rain.

Well, the bay area Andy has had more summer rains then any other year..it rained in June twice, its going to rain in the morning- your storm- and this Sunday morning we were at 75f by 10am.and hazy sun.
To give you an idea- the TV guy even said that this unusual summer continues with occasional summer rains.
Now,nothing that does more then keep things watered for a couple of days...but I take that!

Yes, we had lots of rain in May and some rain in June and now the incredible record rains of July (thanks to Tropical Storm Delores). The last two days we've had more rain ever recorded in July in San Diego's 165 year of weather record keeping.
Tonight it's very hot and humid... the humidity is literally 100% (no exaggeration). It feels like we're in a steam room. It'll be another very warm night. The low this morning was 73ºF here...by 10:00 it was 90ºF.
Tomorrow maybe more rain?...we'll see.

That looks like an Oriole nest. Their nests hang down like in your photo.
