I have several sausage trees I planted from seed. They are an interesting tropical tree. They can grow pretty large...there's a very large sausage tree at San Diego State University, close to where I live (it may be the largest or one of the largest ones growing in California). I posted a photos of this tree years ago one GoY.

The San Diego Zoo most likely has the largest collection of sausage tree in California.

Actually, sausage trees are exceptionally beautiful. This one is always over pruned to keep it small.

When it flowers they are on long hanging clusters and are red to almost black.

I would prefer the flowers to those sausage shaped pods..

This tropical tree is mostly grown for the oddity of the seed pods (which are used medicinally). It can be difficult to place this tree, though. The heavy seed pods can cause damage when they fall.

I have several trees in pots which I need to sell. I don't have a spot in my yard for this tree, unfortunately.
