Blueberries

...and a cup of tea!

Are these the new Haskap blueberries? I was thinking of buying some but they require a pollenator which means at least three plants to a bed..and they sell for about 65$ for two bearers and a pollenator..and they require three years to produce! I have such a short attention span that I decided to buy ever bearing strawberries instead! LOL...

You couldn't have one without the other Paul :o) Lori these Blueberries are Vaccinium corymbosum they bore fruit in the second year but didn't do so well we decided to take them up and then re-planted them in large barrels with more acidic soil it did the trick they have lots of fruit this year we have 3 shrubs ...They are good Sue / Carole they use to encourage the pilots to eat them in the war apparently they are good for the eye sight !

We grow ours in large tubs also, have them every day on our breakfast cereals, have just finished the early fruiting variety, and just waiting for our mid season to fully ripen... so worthwhile, like you Amy, they were hopeless in the ground, but have come on in leaps and bounds in the tubs.....

Its a shame you haven't room Waddy :o( Thats good to hear Angela it proves they do better in barrels or tubs with us both having a good crop , I wonder if the weather plays a part in it ? if its hot and dry next year and we don't have any berries we'll know then they prefer this yukky damp wet weather !
