Tamarindus indica - Tamarind Tree

That should thrive in the Desert. Another possible coachella industry?

I think this tree may want more humidity. I've never seen one growing in the desert.

Oh yeah. In India they thrive. Tropical plants like the soucal desert heat more then people. As long as they are watered.
When I see how hot my driveway can get...and it barely gets heat lovers to grow? I can see how hot a true hot climate must be.

Yes, it's very hot and extremely humid in many parts of India. Tamarind is native to hot, humid Africa, even though it's naturalized in India for a couple thousand years.

It's is unbelievably hot here right now. It's still in the mid to upper 80's here in inland San Diego at 10:30 pm. It feels horrible with the humidity. It's suppose to be even hotter on Saturday and Sunday.

This is the tallest tamarind tree I've ever seen in San Diego. It's appox 30' tall. I think this one produces fruit.

Yesterday was nice. 80f? Today is supposed to go to near 90f..I say near because they go by hayx all the time and that's like 5-10f cooler in summer. I think 90f is about right. Inland 100f+.

Soucal deserts are going to pushing 120f. How do people get by if the aircon in the home goes out? Or do anything outside?

It's very, very hot here right now, at 11:30 p.m.. I hate it!
It was 101ºF here today, tomorrow is forecasted to be a muggy 103 or 105ºF maybe? We'll see...then Monday cooling to mid to upper 90's.

Yes, it is forecasted to be 119ºF in Borrego tomorrow (Sunday). That's unbearable heat! I can't imagine living there especially without a/c.

omg as the kids say. It was well over 90here at my house. The problem came when the house finally got hot,it got HOT.
Today,going with air con later Andy. Getting too old.

And people reading this wonder why we go on about the weather.
Because all this high heat so often is new. Records were set in the bay area. I think even SF got to 86f. Oakland set a record.

I know, it was 98ºF at about 11:00 a.m. in my neighborhood. It's going to be a scorcher today! I really don't like when it's this hot. It's difficult for the plants not to burn even with the humidity.

I did see all the records that fell in the SF Bay Area, yesterday. I was most impressed with the Santa Cruz record of 101ºF beating the previous record of 88ºF (I know it's not part of the Bay Area).

I saw 98f..WeatherUnderground had us at 101.3 That's the first 100f in town in years. Usually we flirt with it..but rarely get there.
Today my air ran from 3pm to tomorrow!

It think it was the same yesterday, 101ºF. Although, it cooled down just a little last night; however, got much more humid. The dew points are running close to 70ºF. By the end of the week it's suppose to be a little below normal temps...and that's perfectly fine with me. :>)
