This Opuntia cactus has beautiful flowers. Photo taken Aug. 7, 2015 in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA.

There's so many different species with so many different colored flowers.
It does kind of remind me of a huge Christmas cactus, though.

I had one but strangely I reacted to the spines when they pricked me by coming out in a rash.

This is why I don't have any, spines! So many species of Opuntia grow wild here in the canyons and sides of the mesas.
I drove by thousands of Opuntia almost every day, that's good enough for me. LOL!

I don't get a rash. I just don't like getting little spines in my hands. This is why I don't have Bougainvillea growing in the ground anymore, either. Bougainvillea's long thorns are worse.

wow- Looks more like a Christmas type Cactus. I don't think I've seen Opuntia in that color.
