Siris when I started gardening I was determined to plant flowers for the bees, butterflies and birds and it has developed over the years to do just as I planned, but I hasten to add it is more good luck than judgement. I also wanted flowers to be around me for most months of the year and that meant visiting g.c. at various times of the year to see what flowered when. It has been worth it though I can sit and watch the birds in a winter feeding and butterflies bees and hover flies all summer. I love it as much as they do.

I planted several lavenders a couple of years ago and the bees love them. Took some cuttings a month ago and at the moment they seem to be o.k.

I love the smell of lavender, but find it never is very successful in my garden, tried it a couple of times now and so gave up on it.

Have you thought of growing it in a pot. I have two lavenders in pots.
