I'm looking at a Galtonia and Eucomis bed next year Delonix. Perhaps with a backdrop of Canna and Hedychium.
It is the first time that it has flowered for me Amy.
Andrew - maybe not if you have a nursery full of Oakhurst to sell!

Meanie:
That would look great! Do you have a long enough growing season for Hedychium to flower?

"Do you have a long enough growing season for Hedychium to flower?"
Not this year! H.gardnerianum usually blooms here though and is hardy.

I forgot about H.gardnerianum. This one flowers in summer. Most of the others species flower in late summer through fall. Does H. greenii grow there? I love the flower color and fragrance! This one flowers in summer, also.
It also produces many plantlets from the flower spikes after it flowers. I used to so many when I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area.
