the last couple of summers the weather has been so hit-or-miss that I've given up on some less than certain things and been counting on old favs. the less than certain things thrived...old faves ..gone. Whaaa? such is the life of the gardener. Usually the birds and squirrels plant plenty of sunflowers..but not this year. This is my only one and I bought it from a friend at the market. She was giving seedlings to anyone who would take one, said she wanted to make Matawatchan a sunflower capital of the township! I have to email her a pic of my contribution. Next summer I will have a table at the market and will try to do the same with the progeny of this plant. Won't it be lovely if it works?

Thanks, Amy! fingers crossed! I have T. on Frost Watch now. He consults the weather people on line every day so I can go out with bags and tarps and newspaper to cover up my precious plants and garden. My rose has finally started buds and I want her to bloom will do my best to keep her warm. :-)

Sorry to hear that, Karen. You've been in your new place, what?... 2 summers? How has your new greenhouse been going? The only constant with our weather seems to be change... don't like the weather? ...wait 5 minutes. When the world gets finished with it's wobble we may get back to normal.
sunflowers have become an agri crop around here.. see fields of them on the way to town.

We have fields of them here Lori they are grown mainly for bird seed Tony took some lovely photos of the sunflowers in fields a couple of weeks ago with his new camera but hadn't adjusted the sizing ,I tried to put them on the computer but it wouldn't accept them as being to large I didn't know how to alter them on my computer so deleted them :o( shame ...
