Flowering 'Christmas' cacti.

Flowering 'Christmas' cacti. (Schlumbergera)

I brought them in a few days ago after their summer hols in the garden. They were starting to bud up and today the flowers are opening. They usually flower around the end of March then again in October. Sometimes I get a few flowers at Christmas.

Such a lot of lovely flowers. I must try giving my miserable specimen a break!

They seem to flower better since I started putting them outside after the last frosts Siris. I've put them out every year for about 5 years.

Thanks Waddy they should flower for about a month if I'm lucky.

Brian.. They do enjoy the respite from my attentions. Lol

Sirus I put my citrus out too, they are full of flowers now I have brought them back in doors. They have a lovely strong scent don't they. I daren't put the Phals outside and I lost my cymbidium a couple of years ago from letting it get waterlogged.

Phalenopsis as you obviously know like a constant temperature. The Cymbidiums, which are in the conservatory, frost protection only, are quite happy down to about 7 oC occasionally. I have flower stems coming on two of my pots of Cyms.
Would you like some Cymbidium Hb? I have cream or yellow, needs splitting before it breaks the pot.

Oh! Yes please Sirus. That's really generous of you. Would you like one of my pink cacti?

Thank you Hb, I am trying to reduce the number of indoor plants, so I will decline the Xmas Cactus, but will improve the one I have. Be in touch PM ref. Cymbidium.
