Clematis .. ID Karen please

Amy, from this photo I wouldn't say it is definitely PS. The stamen look too pale and the colour of the flower is a bit too purple. It could be....as you say, it's not at it's best. But tbh, I don't think it is PS.

Now I've looked again, I'm not so sure. It could be. Does it have red on the stamens Amy?

It has karen but very wishy washy not a strong colour these were the last weak buds to open I'll get a better picture next year with luck !

Well, if its not Polish Spirit, I have no clue what else it could be. Those four sepals are very like PS. I'd expect darker colour in them, and also in the stamens, which are burgundy red on the outside and golden centred. But as you say...its maybe just not the best photo.

Thanks Angela I'll have a look , the thing is I have on occasions bought the odd Clematis from a store in the spring where they stack them up very cheaply without a name attached which isn't very helpful !
