Our insects love it,
but the hummingbirds find the Atlantic rather daunting :-D
It would be wonderful to see those delightful birds in our gardens,
the nearest we have locally are wrens and tits.

Oh My..! I just assumed that you would have them too, I believe there are at least 300 types or species of hummingbirds, I didn't think they would all live in the eastern hemisphere. Ours are the more plainly colored type, the ruby throated. The more colorful ones are in South America. So sorry to hear you don't have this little beauties to enjoy.

I planted this seven years ago and sad to say no longer have the labelling for it. However, it is quite likely that it is the Serotina variety as it is also a favourite of mine. Last year I planted one for my partner but it wasn't long before the fauna arrived and ate it! I shall probably try again this year and create a barricade of protection this time. Paul's side gate just cries out for this plant, what a wonderful way to enter the back garden, through an arch of scented, blooming honeysuckle.
Where have you planted yours? Have you posted a photo of it yet ? I would love to see it as it develops.
