Do you know what sort of lilly, its beautifull...Tiger something maybe :)

This is tigrinum lillium, or more commonly known as Tiger lily :) It's one of my favorite flowers :)

These bring back childhood memories...my Mom had dozens in a bed just outside the livingroom window...we used to watch the hummingbirds warring. the red brown pollen was permanent if it got on your clothes! While checking for scent you would get a red streaked face!!

Lori- My mother-in-law says that I should cut off the pollen on the stamen, but I disagree...it would take away from the plants overall beauty :)

I quite agree Tasteyg, (and I'm a poet, too! haha) When they arrive from the growers the stamens have usually been removed so that the flowers stay clean in transit...that I can understand...but when they are in your own garden and not to be moved except perhaps to a vase, I agree with you whole heartedly. They are perfect as nature has them!

Spooky...Buffriddler?? How so? Is it like a spooky vampire lily, that "vants to suck your blood?" It had just been opening that morning, the stamen are as pristine as they'll ever be and the petals aren't done opening yet.
