That's an unusual one.

It's a beautiful color! Phalaenopsis hybrids are extremely common here. They are some of the easiest orchids to grow outside and inside. My plant has a branch coming out of the of the old spike. It flowered for 4 or 5 months.

I usually throw my plants outside until they develop the buds then bring them indoors for their blooms.

I really enjoy seeing them in bloom this time of year.

I'll have to take some photos of the thousands of orchids in the Botanical Building in Balboa Park. It's a huge lath-house in Balboa Park which you may have seen in some of my photos. It's Victorian architecture which was originally built for orchids back in 1915. It's perfect for orchids because it allows air to move through the laths and filters the blazing sun.

I'd love to see those photos. Happy New Year.

I already have hundreds of photos on Goy. Most orchids bloom in winter here in San Diego. Unfortunately, I can't find all my orchid photos on GoY like it used to let me. GoY changed their search format a few years ago.

Yes, they are...I love all the different varieties of Anthuriums which grow in there, also. My Anthuriums are blooming even though it's been pretty cold since Christmas.

The morning lows have been in the 40's since the day after Christmas. We've been freezing! BRRR! The daytime highs have only been upper 50's to mid-60's, which is really cold for us, this time of year.
