Nice trunk. However, I'll show you some really large trunks from this tree. lol!

I know of some much larger ones by buildings in downtown Hayward which were not even touched by the 1990 freeze. They were protected by the taller buildings.

Really? Where? I've never spotted any Ficus nitida. Shoot,I'll go down and look!
I found a website to the librarys Trees. Only the Bunya Bunya was exotic. The Samuel Somers Magnolia is what I have fronting my garden. Some days I want to take it down..others..its exotic looking,and easy to keep. Plus,I planted it so long ago.
Downtown is old. I did find a Mexican Monkey paw tree. Out of bloom,but nice verdant foliage.

I've seen so many Ficus retusa 'nitida' in Hayward. They're common in the Bay Area.

I know there's been a lot of changes in Hayward over the years since I've moved from there. However, the last time I was there (in June) I remember seeing the big Ficus trees between A and B streets in a parking lot close to an alley.
