Bathgate:

It's doesn't look bad! At least it's alive.

Yesterday, I was at Balboa Park in the horrible heat! The tall, old Deodor Cedars, Canary Island Pines and large old Ficus benjamina trees along with many other palm trees are dying from the horrible, extreme drought! It's really sad! :>((

wow, what a sad sight that must be. I hope the drought is over.

The drought is no where near over, unfortunately. We just haven't had the rains the "Super El Nino" was suppose to bring us. All we're getting now is very hot, dry weather. I'm having to water plants every day, now. :>((

It's really sad about the poor trees in Balboa Park! There's very old, tall Rhopalostylis sapid and R. baueri that died from the extreme drought and high heat from last year. Some of those trees were 60 years old or maybe older.

What a sad state of affairs. Will Balboa now become a fire hazard because of the dead timber? What about the redwoods up at Yosemite? I went camping/hiking up there a couple years ago. Words can't describe the beauty of Yosemite Park. They must have experienced drought before being the oldest living things on earth. I just don't think we understand the weather.

In Balboa Park they have many park workers. They keep it pretty trimmed up and take out the old dead trees regularly. After this drought ends there will be a lot of trees to be replanted.

Balboa Park is the largest urban, cultural park in the U. S. It's larger than Central Park, New York and Golden Gate Park, San Fracisco.

All this snow is what saves us from drought in summer. I don't really mind the snow - once I'm done shoveling the walkway and driveway.

The snow in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range is what saves most of California from drought. The snow pack is what feeds the reservoirs.
