This Ficus native to the Equatorial region of Eastern Africa which has gotten so large over the years. It's been cut back several time and needs a major trimming, again! It still amazes me this fig does so well here because it's native to tropical rain forest. Our very dry subtropical climate is very different from tropical rain forest! Photo taken Feb. 26, 2016.

The leaves are very different from F. deltoides. I grew F. deltoides in the SF Bay Area. It did very well, there.
That's true it's an epiphytic strangler, like so many other Ficus species. This one is super easy from cuttings. I have another one which was started from a 6" cutting sometime in 2009, now it's as tall as this one and getting almost as wide. That one needs to be desperately chopped back, also.
I purchased this tree from Fuji Plant Outlet in 1988 as a 8" plant (Do you remember Fuji Plant Outlet in Hayward on Soto Rd? It was my favorite nursery!)
PS., Check out my Mango tree flowering I just posted yesterday. I think you'll love it!

Fuji's was great. I wish I knew then what I know now. Every now and then I meet somebody who remembers it and we all get "It was so great".
Is that your tree? A good looking tree. Weepy, deep green. Can you post a pic of the trunk?

Yes, that's my tree. It was in a pot...then in 2004 we had a lot of rain and it grew into the ground.
I'll take a photo of the trunk on this tree and the one from the little 6" cutting from back in 2009. I think I have a photo of the tiny cutting it was...now it's a MONSTER!
I have to be careful cutting this tree back...because the more you cut the faster it grows! It has grown 6' in all directions within a month or so after cutting it back.
This tree posted has three trunks because it was in a small container that had three plants. It's super easy from cuttings if you ever want some.

Its like a giant version of Ficus deltoides. And -yep,anything like F.deltoides growing outdoors in full sun is amazing. Not what you expect from a tree that grows on other trees in Africa
