I got some allspice "berries" from this tree. I wonder if I can germinate them or just use it in the cooking. Did you try to germinate them Delonix?

I got my tree from a very tiny seedling under the larger trees in Balboa Park (which were badly damaged by the powerful windstorm on Jan 31/Feb 1, this year). They seem to germinate pretty easily. The berries should be black, though. Typically, for commerce the berries are picked green. The leaves are the best way to use Allspice. What's nice about the tree you can keep it small in a pot.
Here's my plant when it was small. It only had two leaves when I got it.

Cute. How tall is it now after 4 years?
The berries I picked are black.

In it's pot, its over 6' (2m) tall. If it had been planted in the ground it would probably be 8' (2.5 m) tall.
Those black berries are perfect for planting.

I will try then and see if they will germinate. It would be cool to have a allspice tree as a house plant. I do have a lemon tree so why not allspice.?

I think the Allspice tree would be easier to grow indoors (as long as it receives enough light).

My tree is flowering, also. It has a lot of flowers because it's been very warm and dry here. The "Super"
El NiƱo has not brought us the 200 percent of rainfall that was originally forecasted. We are only at about 60 percent of the normal rainfall to date here in San Diego. :>((
